Byron nostro validissimo collaboratore e reporter in U.S.A, ha visitato su invito della Compagnia Holland America la nave Eurodam.
Durante la visita è stata effettuata una piccola ma molto interessante intervista , riportiamo di seguito le domande e relative risposte.

It was in the early morning where I yet again boarded the Staten Island Ferry for another round of early morning ship spotting.

Today’s round was the Caribbean Princess arriving in the early morning like around 5:30 am with the Carnival Glory Arriving at 6:00 am.

Unfortunately the ferry did not blast off in time for me to get any close ups of the Glory coming into Manhattan however I was able to get a few shots of her passing the Statue of Liberty as the sun rose.

When the ferry departed I concentrated my eyes on the Glory as she was sailing into Manhattan then I turned to get more shots of the Caribbean Princess docked in Red Hook.

The Lighting was perfect ,
The weather was perfect nothing could go wrong at the moment for I had more to capture

There was the Norwegian Jewel coming in ,
After the ferry docked I quickly boarded again to capture the Jewel coming into the Harbor , I knew with the perfect timing I could get perfect shots of her.

As the Ferry raced at top speed we were tailing behind the Norwegian Jewel as she was coming into the harbor the light shined upon her as she moved in.

The wake from her twin Azipod thrusters was clearly visible as the ferry steamed right behind her , for me I prefer the larger Staten Island Ferries for they provide a better view on the top deck which is called the Hurricane deck.

These are smaller ships used for weekend morning service.

As we cleared for docking at St George terminal I captured the Norwegian Jewel’s final approach to Manhattan.

Then the morning was done ,
A Saturday Morning filled with excitement I just wish it would have been a weekday for I could have taken the larger ferry.

Era di primo mattino quando mi trovavo ancora una volta a bordo dello Staten Island Ferry ,per un altro giro di avvistamento nave .

Oggi è il turno di Caribbean Princess che arriva al mattino presto circa intorno a 5: 30 am con l’arrivo di Carnival Glory at 6: 00 am.

Purtroppo il traghetto non mi ha permesso di fotografare l’ingresso del Glory a Manhatam , tuttavia, sono stato in grado di ottenere alcuni scatti del suo passaggio davanti alla Statua della libertà appena il sole è aumentato.

Quando partì il traghetto ho concentrato il mio sguardo su Carnival Glory, mentre lei stava navigando in Manhattan, poi mi sono girato per ottenere più scatti della Carribean Princess ancorata in Red Hook.

L’illuminazione è stata perfetta, il meteo è stato perfetto nulla sarebbe potuto andare storto in quel momento ho avuto altro da fare, c’era il Norvegian Jewel che stava arrivando.

Dopo il traghetto ha ormeggiato, ma sono rapidamente risalito per catturare il Norvegian Jewel che entrava in porto, sapevo con il tempismo perfetto, che le avrei potuto fare scatti perfetti .

Sicome il traghetto navigava a velocità sostenuta , stavamo sulla scia dietro al Norvegian Jewel , appena lei e’ arrivata in porto , il sole si è alzato e lei è entrata nella sua scia di luce .

I suoi propulsori Azipod gemelli erano chiaramente visibili dal il traghetto a vapore a destra dietro di lei, io preferisco i più grandi Staten Island Ferries ,perchè forniscono una migliore vista sul ponte superiore ,che è chiamato il ponte Uragano.
Questi con i quali ho navigato oggi, sono navi più piccole, utilizzate per il servizio di mattina del fine settimana.

Appena ormeggiati al terminal San Giorgio, ho catturato l’avvicinamento finale del Norvegian Jewel a Manhattan.

Quindi tutto ciò è stato fatto al mattino, un sabato mattina piena di eccitazione, avrei voluto solo che fosse stato un giorno feriale perche’ io avrei potuto prendere il traghetto più grande.
Questo è tutto per ora.
