Ginevra, 27 marzo 2025 – MSC Crociere e Chantiers de l’Atlantique hanno celebrato oggi a Saint-Nazaire tre importanti traguardi per le navi World Class: la consegna della nuova ammiraglia MSC World America, la cerimonia della moneta di MSC World Asia e il taglio della lamiera di MSC World Atlantic.
All’evento hanno partecipato il Comandante Gianluigi Aponte, Fondatore e Presidente del Gruppo MSC, Pierfrancesco Vago, Presidente esecutivo della Divisione Crociere, Laurent Castaing, Direttore Generale di Chantiers de l’Atlantique, e il Ministro francese dell’Industria e dell’Energia, Marc Ferracci, insieme ai rappresentanti del team di costruzione di MSC Crociere e alle maestranze del cantiere che hanno lavorato alla nave negli ultimi 30 mesi.
MSC World America è la 23ma unità della moderna flotta della Compagnia e sarà ufficialmente battezzata il 9 aprile negli Stati Uniti, presso il nuovo «MSC Cruise Terminal» di Port Miami, il terminal crocieristico più grande e tecnologicamente avanzato al mondo. La nave offre spazi e concept ripensati appositamente per il mercato statunitense e per tutti gli ospiti europei, coniugando perfettamente lo stile europeo con il comfort americano.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Presidente esecutivo della Divisione Crociere del Gruppo MSC, ha dichiarato: «Oggi è un momento di grande orgoglio per tutti noi di MSC Crociere e di Chantiers de l’Atlantique perché celebriamo importanti traguardi nello sviluppo della nostra flotta. La nuova ammiraglia è una testimonianza della nostra lunga e innovativa collaborazione, che dura da oltre 20 anni e ha dato vita a cinque prototipi rivoluzionari e 19 navi. Insieme, continuiamo a superare i confini, combinando design all’avanguardia, le tecnologie più avanzate e un’ampia gamma di esperienze per definire nuovi standard nelle crociere, cercando sempre di migliorare le prestazioni ambientali di ogni nave. Siamo impazienti di alzare ancora di più l’asticella con le prossime MSC World Asia e MSC World Atlantic».

Andremo ancora oltre con le due navi gemelle che stiamo celebrando oggi».
Nella giornata di oggi si è svolta inoltre la tradizionale cerimonia della moneta di MSC World Asia, durante la quale alcune monete commemorative sono state inserite all’interno della nave come segno di benedizione e buona fortuna. Le due madrine dell’evento, Marialuisa Iaccarino, VP Shore Excursions di MSC Crociere, e Flavie Biondo, Chargé d’affaires di Chantiers de l’Atlantique, hanno avuto l’onore di compiere questo rito marittimo. MSC World Asia entrerà in servizio nell’inverno 2026-27, svolgendo crociere in Mediterraneo verso Francia, Italia, Spagna e Malta.
MSC Crociere ha celebrato anche la cerimonia del taglio della lamiera della quarta unità World Class della Compagnia, che segna ufficialmente l’inizio della costruzione della nave, destinata a entrare in servizio nel 2027. Il nome della nave è stato rivelato per la prima volta: si chiamerà MSC World Atlantic e opererà nei Caraibi con partenze da Port Canaveral, a partire dall’inverno 2027-2028.
Il prototipo World Class ha fissato nuovi standard nel settore delle crociere con l’introduzione di MSC World Europa nel 2022. Il progetto continua a evolversi perché ogni nuova nave presenta innovazioni nel design, nella tecnologia e nell’esperienza degli ospiti. Coerentemente al posizionamento globale di MSC Crociere, le navi derivano il loro nome dai continenti e dagli oceani, senza necessariamente indicare le aree in cui saranno impiegate, ma esprimendo l’ampia offerta di destinazioni della compagnia che naviga in tutte le parti del mondo.
MSC World America è una delle navi da crociera più efficienti al mondo dal punto di vista energetico, superando tutti i requisiti di progettazione stabiliti dall’Indice di Efficienza Energetica dell’IMO (Organizzazione Marittima Internazionale). I suoi motori di ultima generazione funzionano a GNL, consentendo una transizione diretta verso biocarburanti e combustibili sintetici rinnovabili. La nave è dotata inoltre di connessione alla rete elettrica terrestre, che permette di spegnere i motori nei porti attrezzati con l’alimentazione da terra come il nuovo terminal MSC crociere di Miami. Tra le numerose altre caratteristiche, la nave dispone di un avanzato sistema di trattamento delle acque reflue e di un impianto di gestione dei rifiuti a bordo che, combinati, riducono significativamente la produzione di rifiuti.
La stagione inaugurale della nave partirà da Miami il 12 aprile. Offrirà itinerari alternati di 7 notti nei Caraibi orientali verso Puerto Plata (Repubblica Dominicana), San Juan (Porto Rico) e l’isola privata di MSC, Ocean Cay, e 7 notti nei Caraibi occidentali verso Costa Maya e Cozumel (Messico), Isla de Roatan (Honduras) e Ocean Cay.

MSC World America ha 22 ponti e una stazza lorda di 216.638 tonnellate, misura 333,3 metri di lunghezza e 47 metri di larghezza. La nave ha una capacità di 6.762 passeggeri e ospita 2.138 membri dell’equipaggio, disponendo di 2.614 cabine e di oltre 38.400 m² di spazi pubblici. Attendees included Captain Gianluigi Aponte, Founder and Group Chairman of MSC; Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s Cruise Division; Laurent Castaing, Chantiers de l’Atlantique General Manager; and the French Minister for Industry and Energy, Marc Ferracci; together with representatives of MSC Cruises’ new build team and shipyard workers who built the ship over the last 30 months.
MSC World America is the 23 ship in the cruise line’s fleet and is set to be officially named on April 9 at the company’s new state-of-the-art MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, which is the largest in the world. The ship offers new venues and concepts tailored specifically to the North American market, combining European style with American comfort.

MSC World Asia celebrated its coin ceremony, during which commemorative coins were placed inside the ship as a sign of blessing during construction and to bring good fortune to the ship. Two godmothers, Marialuisa Iaccarino, VP Shore Excursions for MSC Cruises; and Flavie Biondo, Chargé d’affaires for Chantiers de l’Atlantique placed the coins in the ship’s hull. MSC World Asia will enter service during winter 2026-27 with Mediterranean cruises to destinations in France, Italy, Spain and Malta.
MSC Cruises’ third celebration was a steel cutting ceremony to start construction of the line’s fourth World Class ship, due to enter service in 2027. The ship’s name—MSC World Atlantic—was revealed for the first time. MSC World Atlantic will offer cruises from Port Canaveral, sailing to the Caribbean starting with the winter 2027-28 season.
The World Class platform set new standards in cruising with the introduction of MSC World Europa in 2022, and it continues to evolve with each new ship incorporating innovations in design, technology and guest experience. World Class ships are named in honor of the world’s continents and oceans, not necessarily indicating where they will be deployed. The naming convention reflects the global nature of MSC Cruises, which sails to all parts of the world.
MSC World America is one of the most energy-efficient cruise ships in the world, surpassing all design requirements under the International Maritime Organization’s Energy Efficiency Design Index. Her latest-generation engines run on LNG, which enables a direct transition toward drop-in bio and synthetic renewable fuels.
The ship is also equipped with shore power to allow the engines to be switched off while in connected ports that offer it, such as the new MSC Cruise Terminal in Miami. The ship also has an advanced wastewater treatment system and a comprehensive onboard recycling management plant, which significantly reduce waste output.
The Classification Society, Bureau Veritas, has awarded MSC World America its Platinum Pearl Award in recognition of MSC Cruises’ 20-year commitment to health, safety and environmental protection across its fleet of ships.
