New milestone for the Mein Schiff Flow: The second ship of the InTUItion class successfully completes its first test voyages in the Mediterranean.
Hamburg, March 13, 2026. The Mein Schiff Flow successfully completed its first extensive sea trials, the technical and nautical sea tests, in February. The second ship in the InTUItion class is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
Initially, engine performance, propulsion and maneuverability, as well as the ship’s key technical systems, were tested. Stabilizers, anchoring systems, and numerous safety-related equipment were also rigorously tested under real-world conditions. Particularly impressive was the ship’s ability to execute a 360-degree turn, a zigzag course, and classic emergency maneuvers such as the Williamson turn at top speed. “The Mein Schiff Flow fully convinced us during the sea trials – it is technically state-of-the-art and extremely maneuverable and safe,” said Georgios Vagiannis, Director of Newbuild at TUI Cruises.
The LNG propulsion system will be tested separately during a further sea trial in a few weeks. The InTUItion-class ships are equipped with a dual-fuel propulsion system that can run on both marine diesel and natural gas. Future plans include the addition of green e-/bio-LNG to further reduce CO₂ emissions.
When two captains meet:
An extraordinary encounter between two different worlds created special moments on board the Mein Schiff Flow in February. As part of the editorial format “Captain meets Captain,” airline captain Sascha and ship captain Jan had already met last year. Now, the two captains reunited for a shared experience on the high seas: Jan invited Sascha to a sea trial, the first test voyage of the newest member of the fleet. During the sea trial, the two captains spent a considerable amount of time together on the bridge. Exchanging information about procedures, safety concepts, checklists, and decision-making processes, numerous parallels between the cockpit and the bridge became apparent – from structured communication and maneuver preparation to shared challenges in daily operations.
The christening of Mein Schiff Flow
will take place on June 20th in the port of Trieste – as part of an eight-day cruise that can be booked from June 17th to 25th or June 18th to 26th, 2026. Under the motto “Go with the Flow,” TUI Cruises focuses on the personal and individual Mein Schiff experience.
The first official cruises depart from Palma on July 9th, 2026. Even before the first cruises, guests have the opportunity to explore the new “feel-good” ship on the so-called welcome cruises.
