More culinary variety, new favorite spots and additional holiday experiences for all generations
With AIDAperla and AIDAprima, the “AIDA Evolution” future initiative enters its next phase. AIDA Cruises is thus extending the largest modernization program in the company’s history to the next class of ships. The program kicks off with AIDAperla’s shipyard stay from April 3 to May 2, 2027, at the French shipyard Chantier Naval de Marseille. AIDAprima will follow a year later, from April 22 to May 21, 2028.
“AIDA Evolution is far more than just the modernization of our ships. We are consistently developing the AIDA holiday experience, combining proven and popular concepts with the wishes of our guests. On AIDAperla and AIDAprima, we are building on an already very diverse range of offerings and deliberately setting new accents: with additional restaurants and bars, new favorite spots, and versatile experience areas for all generations. This takes AIDA Evolution into its next phase,” says Steffi Heinicke, Senior Vice President Guest Experience AIDA Cruises.
Culinary diversity is growing
Guests can look forward to an expanded culinary offering. For the first time, Best Burger @ Sea will be available on AIDAperla and AIDAprima, adding popular burger variations to the onboard menu. On Deck 7, the new East Fusion will create a diverse culinary experience centered around Asian cuisine. This concept, first introduced on AIDAdiva in March 2025, offers Asian and sushi dishes. The concept will be expanded to include hotpot and, brand new, the option to enjoy Korean barbecue directly at your table. Also new to this class of ship is the Teppanyaki Asia Grill, where watching the food being prepared right before your eyes creates a unique experience.
The bar scene is also evolving. The former expansive photography area on Deck 7 is being transformed into the completely redesigned Art Bar. Custom-designed seating and an exceptional design create a unique atmosphere, combining an art gallery with cocktails, long drinks, and, new this year, barista-style coffee from an espresso machine. On Deck 8, the new Panorama Lounge & Bar invites guests to relax and enjoy themselves. The menu includes signature cocktails and an exclusive afternoon tea. The Spray Bar at the bow of the ship is getting a facelift and will feature a modern look and a large, interactive LED video wall. New access via the D6 nightclub significantly expands its possibilities: the area can be flexibly integrated into events and offers additional options for parties and group gatherings. The new Chilli Out Bar on Deck 8 complements the offerings with the diverse flavors of Latin America, such as Mexican tacos, fiery snacks, and fruity drinks.
Even more living room atmosphere and new favorite spots
The Theatrium is also getting a makeover as part of AIDA Evolution. New lounge and seating furniture will create a more living-room atmosphere in the heart of the ships, providing additional opportunities to relax and unwind. Following its modernization, the AIDA Plaza, with its expanded offerings and additional seating, is even more inviting for strolling and lingering. Whether you’re craving currywurst, tapas, or a scoop of ice cream – there’s something to satisfy every appetite.
More comfort in cabins and suites
Guests can look forward to cabin upgrades designed for even greater comfort. These include USB ports by the beds and new mirrors with nightlights in the bathrooms. The suites will also feature a new color scheme. Furthermore, the existing cabin offerings will be expanded through the redesign and optimization of various areas. For example, new inside, ocean-view, and balcony cabins will provide an even wider selection on board.
New experiences for all generations
With AIDA Evolution, the leisure and family areas of AIDAperla and AIDAprima also receive numerous upgrades. One of the biggest changes awaits guests on the Four Elements activity deck. The upper level is spanned by a new net structure, opening it up for climbing, relaxing, and exploring. The Fun Park Air replaces the previous climbing garden and is open to guests of all ages. Another first for this class of ship: On Deck 16, one of the highest mini-golf courses at sea features various obstacles that challenge guests’ skills.
The Kids Club is also receiving a comprehensive upgrade. For the first time on AIDAperla and AIDAprima, an outdoor area will be added, creating even more space for play and exercise in the open air. Additionally, a mini-play area for the youngest guests is being created in the Beach Club. This feature first delighted the youngest guests on board AIDAluna in December 2025 and has since been a standard feature on all subsequent Evolution ships. For teenagers, the Teens Lounge in the D6 nightclub will become a new favorite spot on board during the day. More space and an optimized music selection will create the perfect atmosphere for meeting up, relaxing, and partying. The Game Center on Deck 15 further enhances the offerings with a variety of fun games.
First trips after the shipyard
Immediately after the completion of their shipyard stays, guests can experience AIDAperla and AIDAprima in their new look in the Mediterranean. AIDAperla departs from Mallorca on May 2, 2027, for a 10-day voyage to Corsica, Sardinia, Naples, La Spezia, Rome/Civitavecchia, and Barcelona. AIDAprima follows on May 21, 2028, with its first voyage under the Evolution program. This seven-day voyage from Mallorca includes Marseille, Rome/Civitavecchia, La Spezia, and Barcelona.
With the further development of AIDAperla and AIDAprima, AIDA Evolution is being consistently extended to the next generation of ships. AIDA is thus making a long-term investment in the attractiveness of its existing fleet and continuously developing the holiday experience for its guests.
