Mein Schiff Flow naming ceremony: Three godmothers, a ship and a shared sense of flow
Hamburg/Trieste, 21 June 2026. The big moment had arrived. Amidst the applause of the thousands of guests on board, a bottle of champagne was smashed against the bow of the Mein Schiff Flow. The second ship in the InTUItion class was officially welcomed into the Mein Schiff fleet, accompanied by a spectacular show and an elaborately staged ceremony.
This event was notable for several reasons: For the first time in TUI Cruises’ history, three women – Julia, Annabelle and Karin – jointly sponsored a new ship. Together, they represent the diversity of guests and the many personal stories that connect people to the Mein Schiff fleet. To mark this special occasion, the three godmothers wore couture dresses selected by designer Guido Maria Kretschmer.
A naming day marked by a sense of flow
From the afternoon on, the Mein Schiff Flow embraced its naming event motto, “Go with the Flow.” The ship was transformed into a vast world of experiences, brimming with inspiration, music, and shared moments. Rather than a single central venue, guests could explore the festival’s various areas at their own pace.
For instance, collaborative art projects took place on the Mistral Deck, and the Theater was spectacularly showcased with immersive lighting displays, acrobatics, and audiovisual installations.
Live links connected the event venues, turning the entire ship into a shared stage on christening day, especially during the ceremony.
When the ship itself becomes a stage
After the dinner, guests gathered at various stages and public viewing areas on the ship or watched the ceremony from indoor spaces and outer decks overlooking Trieste.
As the 20-minute, multi-scene live production began, the different settings came together to create a unified experience. Musicians, artists, and performers in various locations around the ship created a world of sound and imagery that guided the guests through the evening.
From the Pooldeck through the Agora and Blue Flora to the Theater, Bridge, and Bow, Mein Schiff Flow became a stage in its own. Light, water, movement, acrobatics, and music merged to create a stunning production that brought the concept of “flow” to life: Lightness, connectedness, and constant change.
“The naming event of a new ship is always a very special moment, full of emotion, pride and anticipation. With the Mein Schiff Flow, we are expanding our fleet with a ship that embodies a new way of travelling: characterized by a sense of ease, social interaction and the feeling of travelling at your own pace. “The fact that, for the first time, three godmothers are sharing this journey with us makes this evening a powerful symbol of the diversity and closeness that our guests associate with the Mein Schiff fleet,” says Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.
Sound, art and special encounters
Among the musical highlights of the naming cruise and the naming ceremony were the concerts by Rea Garvey on 19 June and Tim Bendzko on 20 June, the day of the Event. In addition, numerous artists, guest speakers and experts from the fields of art, dance, health and lifestyle enriched the programme on board. Among those present were Maren Kroymann, Christian Awe, Linh Nguyen, Tim Raue and the dance couple Erich Klann and Oana Nechiti.
Whether it was live music, art installations, dance events or creative hands-on activities in the open air, the venues brought the diversity of the new ship to life in a special way and created a festival atmosphere that lasted well into the night.
Heading for the first season
Following its naming event, the Mein Schiff Flow is set to embark on its first season in the Mediterranean. For the winter season, we’ll be heading to northern Germany. With spacious public areas, new relaxation zones and the distinctive sense of space characteristic of the InTUItion class, she complements her sister ship, Mein Schiff Relax and consistently builds on the concept of the new generation of ships.
For the guests, this marks the start of a new chapter at sea: in keeping with the christening motto: “Go with the flow”.
