Epilogue: The first Mein Schiff reading tour has been successfully completed
Hamburg, May 10, 2024. Exactly 10 days ago today, the first Mein Schiff reading trip set sail from/to Bremerhaven and enchanted the guests of Mein Schiff 3 into literary worlds. In addition to spectacular destinations such as Invergordon, the Orkney Islands with Kirkwall, Greenock, Belfast and Southampton, guests could look forward to readings and autograph sessions as well as exclusive offers such as afternoon tea and creative writing workshops as well as wine and whiskey tastings.
“It is always a pleasure for me to be on board the Mein Schiff fleet. It is a great honor for us that I was able to kick off this wonderful journey together with my sister. It’s always fun to read in front of such a great audience,” says Gerit Kling.
The prominent authors not only provided the best entertainment on board during the well-attended exclusive offers of the reading trip, but also read from their books in the sound house or theater. For example, the guests were able to hear exciting coastal crime novels by Svea Jensen, but also the beginning of the furious Lake Constance saga by Gaby Hauptmann. In the packed theater, Gerit and Anja Kling told stories from their book “Then without a title… Once again we couldn’t agree: Two sisters, one story,” which is about the lives of the two. And while Gerit Kling has often enjoyed trips on board the Mein Schiff fleet, her sister was on a cruise for the first time for the reading trip.
In addition to the bestselling author Gaby Hauptmann, crime author Svea Jensen, the historical novel and crime author Sabine Weiß, novelists Sontje Beermann and Katie McLane as well as the journalist and historian Dr. Karsten Eichner, the two actresses and sisters Gerit and Anja Kling were on board. On the first day at sea, the two likeable sisters invited everyone to a wonderful afternoon tea in the newly designed, exclusive Café Lounge. The guests of Mein Schiff 3 also got their money’s worth with the afternoon tea by best-selling author Gaby Hauptmann. In addition to small treats and a glass of champagne, the guests were able to get really close to their stars and gain an insight into the authors’ lives – including a question and book signing session.
“It’s my first time on board the Mein Schiff fleet and I have to say: I’m thrilled! Not only the wonderful destinations that we visited on this trip, but also the diverse offerings and the program that Mein Schiff and the reading trip had to offer are inspiring,” said Anja Kling.
