EXPLORA JOURNEYS NOMINA ACHILLE STAIANO COME CHIEF DIRETTORE COMMERCIALE
Ginevra, Svizzera, 7 settembre 2023 – Explora Journeys ha nominato Achille Staiano Chief Commercial Officer e riporterà direttemente All’amministratore delegato di Explora Journeys Michael Ungerer.
Achille entra nel brand di lusso Explora Journeys dopo aver lavorato per il Gruppo MSC per quasi 30 anni e questa nomina dimostra l’impegno del Gruppo nello sviluppare e investire nei talenti interni all’organizzazione. Entrato in MSC nel 1994, Achille ha trascorso i primi 11 anni nel settore cargo di MSC a Napoli e poi a New York, dove ha ricoperto diversi ruoli commerciali di alto livello.
Passato a MSC Crociere nel 2004, ha contribuito a definire l’ambiziosa strategia di vendita globale della compagnia, che è diventata il terzo brand di crociere a livello mondiale e ha visto quasi raddoppiare la flotta in soli sei anni, con ben 22 navi in servizio. In Explora Journeys Achille svolgerà un ruolo chiave nella prossima fase di crescita del nuovo brand di lusso, dopo aver visto il successo del lancio di EXPLORA I nel luglio di quest’anno.
Michael Ungerer, amministratore delegato di Explora Journeys, ha dichiarato: “La profonda conoscenza di Achille delle vendite, dei canali di distribuzione globali e della gestione dei ricavi nell’industria marittima è un’enorme risorsa da avere mentre continuiamo ad affermare il nostro nuovo brand nel settore dei viaggi di lusso. Norbert Stiekema, che ha lavorato come CCO di Explora Journeys da marzo, continuerà a lavorare per la Divisione Crociere del Gruppo MSC con un ruolo commerciale senior.
EXPLORA I è attualmente in navigazione nel Nord Europa. EXPLORA II entrerà in servizio nell’estate del 2024 e le navi a gas naturale liquefatto EXPLORA III ed EXPLORA IV si uniranno alla flotta rispettivamente nel 2026 e nel 2027.
Proprio ieri a Genova negli storici cantieri di Sestri Ponente si è svolta la doppia cerimonia: il Float Out di Explora II (varo tecnico) e lo Steel cutting (taglio della lamiera) di Explora III. Le due navi rappresentano la seconda e la terza unità, su un totale di ben quattro ordinate dal Gruppo Msc a Fincantieri.

Una flotta di quattro navi sarà varata dal 2023 al 2027, a partire dalla consegna di EXPLORA I, avvenuta il 24 luglio 2023. Dotata delle più recenti tecnologie ambientali e marine, Explora Journeys introduce un nuovo stile di viaggio trasformativo nell’oceano. EXPLORA I offre 461 suite, attici e residenze fronte oceano progettate per essere “case sul mare” per i nostri ospiti, tutte con ampie viste sull’oceano, terrazza privata, una scelta di undici esperienze culinarie distinte, tra sei vivaci ristoranti e cene in suite, dodici bar e saloni (otto interni e quattro esterni), cucina dello chef, quattro piscine, ampi ponti esterni con 64 cabine private, strutture per il benessere e intrattenimento raffinato. Ispirato all’eredità europea della compagnia, Explora Journeys offrirà agli ospiti un’esperienza oceanica coinvolgente e un’ospitalità rispettosa e intuitive.
EXPLORA II è attualmente in costruzione ed entrerà in servizio nell’agosto 2024. La EXPLORA III entrerà in servizio nel 2026 e la EXPLORA IV nel 2027; entrambe le navi saranno alimentate a LNG.
EXPLORA JOURNEYS APPOINTS ACHILLE STAIANO AS CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER
Geneva, Switzerland, 4 September 2023 – Explora Journeys has appointed Achille Staiano as its Chief Commercial Officer based at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Staiano joins the luxury travel brand of the MSC Group from sister company MSC Cruises where most recently he was SVP Global Sales also based in Geneva. He will report to Explora Journeys’ CEO Michael Ungerer.
Achille has worked for the MSC Group for nearly 30 years and this appointment demonstrates the commitment of the Group in developing and investing in talent from within the organisation. Joining MSC in, 1994 Achille spent the first 11 years in MSC’s shipping container business in Naples, Italy and New York where he undertook a variety of senior commercial roles.
He moved to MSC Cruises in 2004 and helped to shape the line’s ambitious global sales strategy to become the third largest cruise brand worldwide and saw the fleet nearly double in size over just six years with 22 vessels in service. In his new role at Explora Journeys, Achille will play a key role in the brand’s next phase of growth, having seen the successful launch of EXPLORA I in July this year.

Norbert Stiekema, who worked as CCO at Explora Journeys since March will continue to work for the Cruise Division of the MSC Group in a senior commercial role.
EXPLORA I is currently sailing in Northern Europe. EXPLORA II will enter service in summer 2024 and liquefied natural gas-powered ships EXPLORA III and EXPLORA IV will join the fleet in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

EXPLORA II is currently under construction and will come into service in August 2024. EXPLORA III will come into service in 2026 and EXPLORA IV in 2027 with both ships being LNG-powered.
