Fincantieri: consegnata ad Ancona “Viking Mira”

Fincantieri e Viking hanno celebrato, presso lo stabilimento di Ancona, la consegna di “Viking Mira”.
Alla cerimonia hanno presenziato Jeff Dash, Executive Vice President and Head of Business Development Viking, Giorgio Gomiero, Senior Vice President Operations Fincantieri e Gilberto Tobaldi, Direttore dello Stabilimento di Ancona.
Con una stazza lorda di circa 54.300 tonnellate, “Viking Mira” dispone di 499 cabine e può accogliere fino a 998 passeggeri. L’unità, che sarà impiegata su itinerari nel Mediterraneo e nel Nord Europa, appartiene al segmento delle navi da crociera di piccole dimensioni e fa parte della flotta delle navi da crociera Viking tutte costruite da Fincantieri.
Tutte le unità Viking sono progettate e costruite nel rispetto delle più recenti normative internazionali in materia di sicurezza e navigazione e sono equipaggiate con soluzioni tecnologiche avanzate e motorizzazioni ad alta efficienza, finalizzate alla riduzione delle emissioni e al contenimento dell’impatto ambientale, in linea con i più alti standard del settore.
La collaborazione tra Fincantieri e Viking, iniziata nel 2012, prosegue nel quadro di una solida partnership nel settore crocieristico. Considerando le navi già ordinate, i contratti firmati e le opzioni concordate negli ultimi mesi, la cui efficacia resta subordinata alle consuete condizioni di finanziamento richieste dal mercato, il portafoglio complessivo tra i due gruppi conta ora le 26 unità.
Il cantiere di Ancona rappresenta uno dei principali poli produttivi del Gruppo. Negli ultimi anni il sito è stato oggetto di un articolato programma di sviluppo volto a rafforzarne la competitività, attraverso interventi infrastrutturali, tecnologici e logistici sostenuti congiuntamente dall’azienda e dal sistema portuale pubblico. Con un’area di 360.000 m², con una capacità produttiva di 60.000 TSL, sistemi di sollevamento fino a 500 tonnellate e potenzialità scafo di 1.200 tonnellate al mese. Dal 2009, sono già state consegnate oltre 20 navi, grazie all’impegno quotidiano di circa 3.700 lavoratori, provenienti da diverse nazionalità, esperienze e generazioni. Il cantiere è parte attiva del programma Operations Excellence, che prevede l’introduzione di tecnologie avanzate, robotica e IA per incrementare l’efficienza e migliorare la qualità del lavoro.

Viking Takes Delivery of Newest Ocean Ship
The New Viking Mira Joins Award-Winning Fleet of Sister Ships
Los Angeles (May 26, 2026) – Viking® (www.viking.com) (NYSE: VIK) today announced it has taken delivery of the Viking Mira®, the company’s newest ocean ship. The delivery ceremony took place this morning when the ship was presented at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Like all Viking ocean ships, the Viking Mira is classified as a small ship, with 499 staterooms accommodating 998 guests. The Viking Mira joins the company’s growing fleet of award-winning ocean ships and will spend her inaugural season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

The delivery of the Viking Mira represents another milestone as Viking expands its ocean fleet. The company is also advancing next-generation propulsion technologies with its next ocean ship—the Viking Libra®—the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions. Currently under construction at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard, the Viking Libra is scheduled for delivery in November 2026 and will feature a propulsion system based partially on liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells. Viking’s subsequent ocean ship, the Viking Astrea®—scheduled for delivery in 2027—will also be hydrogen-powered. The Viking Mira has been designed with the future in mind, ensuring she can be retrofitted to incorporate these new technologies as they become available.
Viking remains focused on its well-defined, long-term growth plans and committed to its strategy, continuing to be a global leader in experiential travel. Based on Viking’s committed orderbook, the company expects to take delivery of 24 additional river ships by 2028, nine additional ocean ships by 2031 and two additional expedition ships by 2031. With these orders, Viking will have 114 river ships in 2028 and 26 ocean and expedition ships in 2031.
