The first cruise ship of the new InTUItion class has been floating since yesterday: On Monday, November 27th, the hull of the Mein Schiff Relax came into contact with sea water for the first time. After the valves to flood the dry dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone were opened, around 130 million liters of water flowed into the dock and ensured a successful floating. An important milestone.
According to the old tradition of Christian seafaring, Roberto Benvenuto, priest of the shipyard, blessed the ship with prayers and holy holy water. Elena Sperti , the godmother of the shipyard, broke a bottle of Prosecco on the hull of the Mein Schiff Relax, an Italian tradition to invoke the luck of the ship and all those who will sail on it as soon as it floats up.
Together with Cristiano Bazzara, director of the Fincantieri shipyard, Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, turned on the valves. “The floating of the Mein Schiff Relax with the blessing of the priest and the good wishes of Madrina, the shipyard’s godmother, was new and very special for us. Just as new and special as this first ship of the new InTUItion ship class. We are happy about every progress we can see here, because the Mein Schiff Relax is intended to be a new feel-good ship for couples, families and solo travelers,” says Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises.

The Mein Schiff Relax offers its guests many innovations that take relaxation and enjoyment to a new level. Cruise lovers can enjoy a very special variety in the included restaurants and bars: The main restaurant with on-site service has a new location on the eighth ship under the well-known name Atlantic. Particularly spacious and with a fabulous view, this restaurant, with an attached bar, offers exquisite, multi-course menus on two decks in the stern at lunchtime and in the evening. And for breakfast, guests have the choice of enjoying it at their seat or putting together their favorite dishes from the buffet.
Delicious Italian dishes are also available on the Mein Schiff Relax in the popular Osteria – Pizza e Pasta. And fans of the buffet restaurant can also find it under the name Harbor Market. Of course, enjoyment on the pool deck should not be neglected either. That’s why there will be two included bistros with various delicacies for young and old. Also new on board: the French Sur Mer Bistrot with the typical French attitude to life. And – by popular request from guests – the included Greek Taverna Dionysos with outdoor and indoor areas.
If you want to treat yourself to very special moments of pleasure, you will find an extraordinary selection of outstanding, exclusive restaurants on the Mein Schiff Relax: tender steak dishes in Høfde, Alpine cuisine in the Chalet, innovative highlights in the Asian Fugu with matching dishes from the pen of Tim Raue and for an aperitif or drink at the end of a wonderful day on board, a good drink with the best view in the bow in the exclusive Captain’s Bar.
Experience free space in a new way – individual cabins & spacious decks for more relaxation
In addition to the particularly large culinary variety, regular guests and new cruise fans can look forward to a lot of free space. For the first time, the Mein Schiff Relax has indoor, outdoor and balcony cabins for solo travelers. And the extensive public outdoor areas such as the Mistral Deck, the pool deck with the popular 25 meter pool and the Agora area with the new infinity pool are wonderful places to relax and unwind.
