“It’s Showtime at TUI Cruises” was the motto yesterday at the Hamburg cruise company’s evening event. As part of the ITB, the fleets Mein Schiff and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises warmly welcomed guests to the Berlin location, the home of Mein Schiff Entertainment. Both fleets presented selected entertainment formats for the 2024 travel year in a pleasant atmosphere – exactly where great entertainment is created, in one of the dance halls.

Since 2015, TUI Cruises employees at the Berlin location have been giving free rein to their creativity. Everything about the show for the Mein Schiff fleet originates here on 5,000 square meters spread over six floors in various rehearsal rooms – from the first idea to the last rehearsal on land.
The guests received a first impression and a look behind the scenes last night. Whether greetings from the Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman, who will be showcasing his talent at EUROPA 2 in June, or a live performance by the dancers of the Mein Schiff fleet – the best entertainment was provided. As the culmination of the program, the guests received an exclusive tour of the rooms – including a look at one of the spectacular costume collections.
Lively exchanges, delicious food and drinks ensured a carefree evening. Guest artists such as Maximilian Arland and Papis Loveday, who are on board the Mein Schiff 5 in September as part of the Colorful Horizons themed trip, also didn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this evening in good company.

Highlights of the Mein Schiff fleet
It will be exciting for Mein Schiff this year: In addition to milestones such as the commissioning of the Mein Schiff 7 in early summer and the two new buildings of the InTUItion ship class that are currently being built in the Italian shipyard in Monfalcone, Wybcke Meyer, CEO, presented TUI Cruises, the entertainment of the Mein Schiff fleet. The origin of this is the location in Berlin, which combines all departments: costume department and entertainment technology through event management, guest artist coordination, choreography, circus arts area, direction and infotainment. It is precisely this diversity that makes it possible to offer an exceptionally broad and high-quality entertainment program on the ships of the Mein Schiff fleet.

The numerous event and themed trips on board the feel-good fleet – such as the popular Full Metal Cruise, which is always sold out in record time, or the new Colorful Horizons format – offer additional highlights. In addition, two more event cruises are planned for September with a large line-up of stars on the new Mein Schiff 7, which will be communicated shortly.

“In addition to the major highlights of our feel-good fleet such as enjoyment, relaxation and freedom, we also always offer our guests a high-quality and varied entertainment program with a high standard. This tailor-made entertainment for the Mein Schiff fleet is created here in Berlin − from the first idea to the last needle prick on the costume,” says Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises.

Julian Pfitzner, CEO Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, also presented some lighthouse projects from the Arts & Entertainment area of the two luxury ships EUROPA and EUROPA 2. In addition to numerous format trips, guests can look forward to, among other things, two special hand-picked projects which are specially curated for the best ships in the world according to Insight Guides 2024.

In June, EUROPA 2 welcomes the respected and internationally renowned choreographer Alexander Ekman. The Swedish native is known worldwide for his fast-paced and humorous works. His reputation is the result of unique creations for international dance companies and opera houses, including the Boston Ballet, the Nederlands Dans Theater 2, the Opéra National de Paris, the Cullberg Ballet and the Staatsballett Berlin. Ekman’s premiere aboard EUROPA 2 promises to be an unforgettable experience as he presents a work partly created on the ship. For this purpose, he has put together an international ensemble with ten of the best dancers from the most renowned companies worldwide, which is unique in this constellation.

For classical music fans, the OCEAN SUN Festival at EUROPA is ideal. In keeping with International Women’s Day tomorrow, it focuses on the works of female composers. The EUROPA is in Stockholm at the beginning of September and has the finest chamber music ready for the upcoming Baltic Sea trip. There will also be an exclusive country concert in Stockholm, with cellist Raphaela Gromes kicking things off together with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. As part of the OCEAN SUN classical music festival on board, other top-class classical artists will perform, including soprano Juliane Banse and pianist Alexandra Dariescu.

Another notable EUROPA cultural format is the theater festival in June. The small luxury ship is transformed into a floating playhouse. As in previous years, the festival takes place in cooperation with the renowned Hamburger Kammerspiele. However, anyone who is interested in current events can look forward to the EUROPA Salon, where experts discuss politics and society. The talks are led by ZDF’s long-standing editor-in-chief, Peter Frey. There will also be a stage on board the EUROPA 2 for two top-class discussions: At “Talk2Christiansen”, the well-known journalist Sabine Christiansen will talk to politicians, high-ranking experts and important people in contemporary history. As part of “Two in a Boat” things get personal. The journalist and television presenter Inka Schneider meets prominent personalities for exciting discussions.

“Our selection of events is hand-picked and always takes place in an intimate setting. Every single detail is planned with the utmost care to offer our guests an unforgettable experience. “We take a place among the leading stages in the world – with the difference that for us proximity to the artists is an essential component,” says Julian Pfitzner, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
