MEYER WERFT lays keel for new cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line

Papenburg,15.08.2025 –
MEYER WERFT and Carnival Corporation (USA) have jointly celebrated the keel laying of another modern cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line. The sister ship Carnival Festivale of the previously delivered Carnival Jubilee will be delivered in spring 2027. “We are delighted that the partnership between the MEYER Group and Carnival Corporation is continuing with this new order,” says Bernd Eikens, CEO of MEYER WERFT. Since 2018, MEYER WERFT and MEYER TURKU have built nine LNG-powered cruise ships for four cruise lines in the Carnival Corporation portfolio on a joint technical platform. The new ship will also be built on this platform and, with a length of around 344 meters and a size of approximately 180,000 GT, will offer space for more than 6,400 guests.
“This ship order is a clear sign that the cruise market has recovered and that there is once again very high demand for sea travel,” adds Thomas Weigend, Chief Sales Officer of the MEYER WERFT.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership and expand our global fleet with another state-of-the-art ship from MEYER WERFT that will delight Carnival Cruise Line guests,” said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line.
The new ships for CCL enables the shipyard to focus on the long term and makes a decisive contribution to securing jobs locals and at partner companies. MEYER WERFT’s order book for Papenburg continues to include in total seven cruise ships, one research vessel, and the steel construction for four offshore converter platforms.
