Travel Partners in Puerto Rico Were Treated to a Preview of Norwegian Viva’s Culinary Offerings and World-Class Experiences on Thursday, July 20, 2023

Miami, July 21, 2023Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel, demonstrated its support for the local travel partner community in Puerto Rico last night, Thursday, July 20, 2023, by providing them with an exclusive first-look, and taste, of the exceptional experiences the debuting Norwegian Viva will offer when it arrives to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the first time on Dec. 15, 2023.

Norwegian Cruise Line executives together with the Puerto Rico Tourism Board emphasized their excitement for the arrival of Norwegian Viva, the second ship in the Prima Class and sister-ship to the award-winning Norwegian Prima, and how it will contribute to attracting travelers from all over the world to one of the most spectacular islands in the Caribbean.

“Puerto Rico holds a very special place for us at Norwegian Cruise Line. We recognize the vital role that the tourism industry plays in the present and future of this beautiful island, and we want to make sure that no one misses the opportunity to enjoy its pristine beaches and amazing people,” said Frank Medina, Norwegian Cruise Line Vice President for Latin America, Brazil & the Caribbean. “This destination and its travel partners are so important to us that not only are we bringing Norwegian Viva to San Juan for its first season of voyages this winter, but it will be returning next December for its second winter cruise season,” he added.

Norwegian Viva is and will be the largest and newest ship based in San Juan, Puerto Rico when it arrives, and the ship’s “Live it Up!” theme will defy expectations when it comes to best-in-class accommodations, culinary offerings and experiences on board. The travel community in Puerto Rico was one of the first to taste the “El Padrino,” the new sustainable cocktail created by Gabe Orta of Bar Lab, which was exclusively made for Norwegian Viva’s Metropolitan Bar, NCL’s dedicated sustainable cocktail bar.

Attendees were also treated to a surprise video message from one of Puerto Rico’s most famous stars, Luis Fonsi. The GRAMMY® nominated, and five-time Latin GRAMMY® winning singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, will serve as Norwegian Viva’s godfather, fulfilling the longstanding maritime tradition of blessing and officially naming the ship at the Nov. 28, 2023, christening ceremony in Miami.

Launching this August in Europe, Norwegian Viva is the second of six vessels in the company’s groundbreaking Prima Class and sister ship to the award-winning Norwegian Prima. The elevated offerings of the Prima Class prioritize the guest experience and raise the bar on cruising through world-class cuisine, the brand’s most spacious design yet, and stellar onboard activities including the Viva Speedway—the three-level racetrack. Norwegian Viva features many of the outstanding onboard experiences that makes the Prima Class in a league of its own including Indulge Food Hall, the upscale food market exhibiting 11 unique eateries; the fastest slides at sea, The Drop and Rush; and NCL’s industry-exclusive sustainable cocktail bar, the Metropolitan Bar. Norwegian Viva will sail a selection of bucket-list-worthy Greek Isles and Mediterranean voyages through November, before homeporting in San Juan, Puerto Rico in December 2023 for a season of Caribbean itineraries.
