“Relaxing rocks”: Spettacolare battesimo di Mein Schiff Relax con Robbie Williams

Inizia un nuovo capitolo: Mein Schiff Relax, la prima nave della nuova classe InTUItion, è stata battezzata davanti a oltre 12.000 ospiti nel porto di Malaga dalla madrina Giuliana Rizzo, membro dell’equipaggio della flotta Mein Schiff dal 2015.

“Relaxing rocks”: Spectacular christening of the Mein Schiff Relax with Robbie Williams

A new chapter begins:The Mein Schiff Relax, the first ship in the new InTUItion class, was christened yesterday in front of over 12,000 guests in the port of Málagaby godmother Giuliana Rizzo, a crew member of the Mein Schiff fleet since 2015. Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, opened the official christening show together with presenter Judith Rakers, who hosted the evening. The christening event, which lasted several hours and lived up to the motto “Relaxing Rocks,” featured numerous musical highlights, including local artists Mitchy & André Katawazi, MOKABY, a performance by Giovanni Zarrella, and last but not least, Robbie Williams. The international superstar and wellness ambassador for Mein Schiff Relax thrilled guests on Mein Schiff 5, Mein Schiff 7, Mein Schiff Relax, and other visitors with his exclusive concert, setting the mood for the evening’s highlight: the christening of Mein Schiff Relax, TUI Cruises’ eighth newbuild.

Robbie Williams, global icon and wellness ambassador for Mein Schiff Relax: “Mein Schiff Relax embodies the perfect blend of relaxation and diversity; she is truly an incredible ship. I loved performing at the christening ceremony in this breathtaking setting in the old town of Málaga. The atmosphere was electric—an unforgettable experience. Relaxing truly rocks!”

The central and recurring element of the perfectly staged christening show, with video mapping, fireworks, LED bracelets, a choir, and other elements, was the figure eight as a symbol of infinity and tranquility. What was special for the more than 12,000 guests—in the event area specially built for the christening—was that they themselves became part of the christening show via radio-controlled LED bracelets that each guest wore on their wrist. They were therefore not just there—they felt it, saw it, and experienced it.

The staging, which culminated in a pyrotechnic effect along a 120-meter-long rocket line to the bow of the ship, the shattering of the champagne bottle, and a fireworks display, crowned the new wellness ship against the backdrop of the Andalusian city of Málaga.

A brilliant christening for a unique wellness ship
. With the eighth wellness ship, the Mein Schiff Relax, a new chapter in premium cruising begins for TUI Cruises. The Mein Schiff Relax is the first ship of the new InTUItion class, which will be joined by the Mein Schiff Flow in 2026. Both new ships set new standards, and this was also evident at the unique christening event in Málaga. “The christening of Mein Schiff Relax marks the beginning of a new era for TUI Cruises and represents another milestone in our success story. Mein Schiff Relax offers numerous innovations that make her unique. That’s why it was important to us to welcome this new feel-good ship into the fleet in a special way, which we achieved with the fleet reunion in the port of Málaga, a high-energy Robbie Williams concert, and a brilliant christening ceremony,” said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.

Godmother Giuliana Rizzo caught everyone’s attention.
For ten years, she has been ensuring that guests on board the Mein Schiff fleet experience special moments of relaxation – yesterday she was the godmother of TUI Cruises’ eighth new ship: Giuliana Rizzo, SPA & Sport Manager of the Mein Schiff Relax. While the German-Italian, who hails from the Hanover region, always focuses on the guests of the Mein Schiff fleet in her daily life, yesterday evening in the port of Málaga, from 10:11 p.m., all eyes were on her. Wearing a haute couture dress by fashion designer Dawid Tomaszewski, who designs exclusive cruise collections for sister brand Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and the established “fashion2sea” format, the godmother strode through a gigantic, digitally projected portal, accompanied by the protective chants of a 36-member Andalusian choir. A few minutes later, the godmother triggered the obligatory drop of the champagne bottle at the bow of the ship with a pyrotechnic effect along a 120-meter-long line of rockets. “I hereby christen you Mein Schiff Relax,” said godmother Giuliana Rizzo.“It was a very special moment for me, one I can hardly put into words. I am simply overwhelmed and proud: by the honor I was given, but also by the breathtaking and emotional staging of this evening – and all of this fittingly for my ten-year anniversary on board the Mein Schiff fleet. There have been many special moments in these ten years, but this one will remain in my heart forever,” said Giuliana Rizzo.

Celebrities and guests from three ships welcomed the Mein Schiff Relax into the fleet.
Never before in the history of TUI Cruises have there been three ships and one christening. Over 12,000 guests, including many new ones as well as long-standing loyal fans of the feel-good fleet, booked the exclusive christening trips under the motto “Infinite Moments” or just the christening event in the Andalusian port city. Also in attendance were prominent guests such as Andrea Berg, Reiner Calmund, Elton, Andrea Kathrin Loewig, Maximilian Arland, Aleksandra Bechtel, Ella Endlich, Natascha Ochsenknecht, and other invited day guests from politics and business.

Following the christening event, the Mein Schiff Relax was celebrated at after-show parties on all three ships: On board Mein Schiff 5, DJ MOUSSE T. rocked the dance floor, DJ MOKABY got the pool deck of Mein Schiff 7 dancing, and DJ 2elements and DJ SCHILLER really got the guests on Mein Schiff Relax going.

Captain, maiden voyage, and first season of Mein Schiff Relax
On Tuesday, Mein Schiff Relax set sail on her christening voyage. At the helm was Captain Tom Roth, who has overseen the development and construction of Mein Schiff Relax for six years, and has also been involved in the construction at the Italian Fincantieri shipyard since August of last year. Yesterday he was the last to enter the port of Málaga with the Mein Schiff Relax, where the Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 7 were already waiting for the new wellness ship.       On the day of the christening, guests on the three christening voyages had the opportunity to toast the Mein Schiff Relax and the upcoming christening event with the christening cocktail “50 Shades of Grape”. This evening the christening dinner will take place, which will also be served on board Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 7, so that guests on the other ships can also enjoy the culinary innovations on board Mein Schiff Relax.
