TUI Cruises christens the Mein Schiff 7 on June 22nd in the Bay of Kiel.
Christening voyage with the latest feel-good ship can be booked promptly

Hamburg, April 16, 2024. The Mein Schiff 7 is entering the home stretch: the latest new building in the Mein Schiff fleet will be celebrated as part of a christening voyage on June 22, 2024 given the name. The trip starts on June 21, 2024 in Kiel. After a panoramic trip through the Danish South Sea, the Mein Schiff 7 will moor again in the port of the Schleswig-Holstein state capital on June 23, 2024 and pay a visit to the Kiel Week on its second day. During the christening voyage, on which guests can discover the many new highlights of Mein Schiff 7, a spectacular program awaits them with a new entertainment show, outstanding artists and many culinary and musical surprises. “After the christening of the Mein Schiff 4 in 2015, we consciously decided to have a christening in the Bay of Kiel again, because it is the perfect place to start wonderful journeys north and discover seventh heaven at sea. And this is exactly what we are inviting the guests of Mein Schiff 7 to do from June,” says Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.The godmother of Mein Schiff 7 has now also been determined: Fenia Kalachani, environmental officer on board the Mein Schiff fleet since 2022, is responsible, together with her environmental officer colleagues, for the implementation and compliance with all relevant environmental regulations on board the Mein Schiff fleet. “As an environmental officer, I am pleased to be able to contribute to ensuring that our guests experience how seriously we take environmental protection and the responsible and sustainable use of resources on board. It is a particularly great honor for me that I am now the godmother for the Mein Schiff 7 – on behalf of the entire Mein Schiff crew. This sister ship of Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2 is a good example of how innovative cruising can be in the area of environment and sustainability.”
Sustainable growth with a focus on low-emission ship operations
The new building will initially be operated exclusively with low-emission marine diesel (sulfur content max. 0.1%) and is equipped with catalytic converters (nitrogen oxide reduction: around 75%) and a shore power connection. In addition, the Mein Schiff 7 will be built in such a way that it can also run on methanol, in the future green methanol, which will make the ship’s propulsion almost CO2-neutral. The decision to prepare the Mein Schiff 7 for methanol propulsion is an important investment in the future and also an important step on the way to climate-neutral cruising.In order to achieve even more efficient and recyclable waste processing on board, the Mein Schiff 7 will also be equipped with the innovative Hydro-Treat system, which carbonizes the organic waste through thermal treatment and can make the resulting biochar usable for further use on land.

The 2-day christening trip of the Mein Schiff 7 from/to Kiel from June 21st to 23rd, 2024 including the christening program is available from 699 euros per person in a balcony cabin, with double occupancy in the PRO tariff and 899 euros in one Single cabin outside in the PRO tariff with the Mein Schiff premium inclusive services.
