“SUN PRINCESS” CONSEGNATA A MONFALCONE
Sun Princess, la prima di due navi da crociera a LNG (gas naturale liquefatto) per Princess Cruises, e stata consegnata oggi presso lo stabilimento di Monfalcone. La nave rimarra presso il cantiere di Monfalcone per ulteriori lavori tecnici.
Con circa 178.000 tonnellate di stazza lorda Sun Princess e la nave piu grande finora costruita in Italia, nonche la prima nave da crociera a LNG mai costruita da Fincantieri e la prima nave dual-fuel alimentata principalmente a LNG ad entrare nella flotta di Princess. II gas naturale liquefatto e la tecnologia di combustibile piu avanzata, matura, scalabile e commercialmente sostenibile per l’industria marittima. E inoltre considerato uno dei combustibili fossili piu puliti in quanta riduce le emissioni di gas serra e elimina quasi completamente altre emissioni nell’aria e particolato.
Sun Princess e la prima nella classe Sphere di Princess Cruises, che include una nave gemella con consegna prevista nel 2025. Ciascuna ospitera circa 4.300 persone e si basa su un design di piattaforma di nuova generazione. “SUN PRINCESS” DELIVERED IN MONFALCONE
Sun Princess, the first of two LNG (liquefied natural gas) cruise ships for Princess Cruises, was delivered today at the Monfalcone shipyard. The vessel will remain at the Monfalcone yard for additional technical works.
At about 178,000 gross tons, Sun Princess is the largest ship ever built in Italy, as well as the first LNG cruise ship ever built by Fincantieri, and the first dual-fuel vessel powered primarily by LNG to enter the Princess fleet. LNG is the most advanced fuel technology that is mature, scalable, and commercially viable for the maritime industry. LNG is also considered among the cleanest fossi I fuels because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and almost totally avoids other air emissions and particulate matter.
Sun Princess is the first in Princess Cruises’ Sphere class, which includes a sister-ship to be delivered in 2025. They will each accommodate approximately 4,300 guests and are based on a next-generation platform design.
