Traditional Lucky Coin Ceremony on the Mein Schiff 7

In keeping with tradition:   Captain Omar Caruana, selected shipyard employees and members of the start-up crew placed a total of 10 lucky coins for the Mein Schiff 7 in a box during the Lucky Coin Ceremony. The box was then welded to deck 15. With these lucky coins, tradition says, there is now a “nest egg” on board and the ship is ready to sail at any time. It was also something very special for start-up captain Omar Caruana, who has been on the Mein Schiff 7 in Finland since February: “I will remember this moment for the rest of my life,” says Caruana.

The construction of the Mein Schiff 7 is in the final stretch at the Meyer shipyard in Turku. Final improvements to the interior and exterior areas of the equipment pier are being carried out. Even though it still looks like a major construction site on the youngest member of the Mein Schiff fleet, the work is still in its final stages. In just a few weeks, the start-up crew will already be moving into their cabins on board. The seventh new building in the Bay of Kiel will be christened on June 22nd. The youngest member of the fleet will sail from/to Kiel towards Nordland in its first summer season and from/to Warnemünde on various Baltic Sea trips from mid-August. After its christening, the Mein Schiff 7 awaits the next highlight in autumn: with the MeerBeats event trip based on “The Fantastischen Vier”, guests on board will experience German hip-hop at its finest.
